Something's gone wrong.

We're a two-person family firm, not a 24-hour call centre — so rather than claim a night shift we don't run, here is exactly how to reach us, what we can usually sort out over the phone, and what to do yourself while you're waiting.

Ring us for:

  • A circuit that keeps tripping and won't stay in
  • Burning smells, buzzing, or an accessory that's hot to the touch
  • Scorch marks around a socket, switch or consumer unit
  • Water anywhere near a consumer unit, socket or light fitting
  • A whole floor or a whole property with no power
  • A cooker, shower or immersion that's stopped dead
  • Anything you're simply not comfortable touching

01

Make it safe first

If something is smoking, scorched or wet, switch it off at the consumer unit — the main switch if you're not sure which way it is — and leave it off. Don't reset a breaker that has tripped twice for the same reason; it tripped for a reason both times. If there's a smell of burning you can't locate, kill the main switch and ring us.

02

Do the two-minute triage

Check whether the neighbours have power too — if the street is out, it's the network operator rather than your installation. Then unplug everything on the affected circuit and try the breaker once. If it holds, plug things back in one at a time; nine times out of ten a failing appliance is the culprit and you've just found it for free.

03

Ring either number and describe it

01732 423022 or 07931 113357. Tell us what tripped, what you'd just switched on, and what you've already tried. A fair number of faults get solved on that call, and if they don't, we arrive knowing what we're walking into instead of starting from scratch.

04

We'll be straight about when we can get there

We're available seven days a week, but we're two people rather than a fleet — so you'll get an honest answer about when Peter can be with you, not an optimistic one. If it's genuinely dangerous and we can't reach you quickly, we'll say so and tell you what to do in the meantime.

Afterwards

None of this is a substitute for getting the installation looked at properly. If the same circuit keeps tripping, or the consumer unit still has rewireable fuses in it, the fix is usually upstream of whatever tripped it — ring and we'll quote for that, free, before you spend anything.
